Five ways to wear a ponytail
Ponytails rule this season. From a neat equestrian look to a sculptural multi-pony, this is the way to wear your hair.
The
easiest way to work the trend is to go low, as seen on the Clements
Ribeiro, Emilio Pucci and Viktor & Rolf catwalks. Just side-part
your hair and tie it a few inches from the end.
For a girl-next-door
appeal, channel the Ralph Lauren show: part your hair in the middle and
gather it into a mid-height pony. Perfect to go with this season's natural, healthy look.
Statement ponies can take a little longer to create but they are big on glamour. Ensure your hair is poker-straight, sweep it back from your hairline (sleek, slicked back hair is another hot trend this season) and pull it into tight, mid-height pony, or at the nape of your neck for an equestrian-inspired style.
For maximum oomph, go for the multiple ponies seen at the Hervé Léger show. Section your hair horizontally into thirds and gather the first section, which goes from your hair line to just above your ears, into a pony tail; add to this the second section of your hair (which goes from just above to just below your ears) and tie into a second pony tail; then add the third section of your hair and gather it all at the nape of your neck. It's far less tricky than it sounds and oh-so sophisticated.
