Eye drama

This season is all about eyes. The catwalks gave us a variety of looks, from minimalist to glamorous, but whichever style you choose, your peepers take centre stage.

The smoky, sultry look in particular has made a strong comeback. To be on trend, create a base with concealed, line your eyes with pencil, smudge it, then bathe your eyelids in dark blue eyeshadow, like the models at Rodarte, or raven black, as at Gucci. You can soften the effect by smudging the eyeshadow (Ungaro style) or replacing dark hues with taupe (as seen at the Lanvin show).
For an even more daring look, go for colour pops: apply a strong hue to your lids-purple, lilac, aqua, neon green-or extend it upwards to the brow for a catwalk-style look.

But the boldest trend of the season must be that for golden eyes. On the Fendi catwalk, models wore gold flakes from black-rimmed lash line to eyebrow. Plastering your lids with gold leaf may not be your idea of style, but there is a subtler way to achieve the look. Prime your eye with concealer then sweep your lids with shimmering gold eyeshadow.  Or do like Emma Watson and combine the golden and smoky trends, adding a touch of gold to the outer corner of dramatic black eyes.
